W. Axl Rose (born William Bruce Rose, February 6, 1962) is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He is the lead singer and sole remaining original member of the hard rock band Guns N 'Roses, with whom he had great success and recognition in late 1980 and early 1990, before disappearing from the public eye for years. In 2001, hereappeared with a new line-up of Guns N 'Roses Rock in Rio III, and later touredregularly, before releasing the long-delayed album Chinese Democracy in 2008.
Rose has received critical acclaim for her vocal abilities and charisma. He has been cited as one of the greatest singers of all time by several media, including Hit Parade in2006 (No. 11), with Rolling Stone in 2008 (No. 64), and NME in 2011 (no. 4 ).
Rose was born William Bruce Rose, Jr. in Lafayette, Indiana, the eldest son of SharonE. (Lintner), then 16, and William Bruce Rose, then 20 years old. When Rose was two years old, his father abandoned the family. His mother married Stephen L. Bailey, and his name was changed to William Bruce Bailey. He has two brothers, a younger sister,Amy, and one half-brother, Stuart. By the age of 17, Rose believed that Bailey was his real father. He never knew his biological father as an adult, William Rose was found dead in Illinois in 1984.
